Religion Reflection
I liked the religion project. When I first heard that we where going to do a religion project, I wasn’t to excited. Religion isn’t my favorite topic, because ever sense I was a kid I was forced into religion, so I don’t really love religion. Although where I heard we could make our own religion I thought that could be kinda fun.
I choose greek mythology and Judaism as the bases of my religion. In 3rd grade I learned a little bit of greek mythology. I was very interested in it and wanted to learn more, so I though I could use it in this project. I choose Judaism because my Bar-mitzvah (a jewish boy’s 13th birthday where he /I/ have to basically read a lot of hebrew) is coming up very soon, and I thought it would be helpful to learn more about Judaism for my Baa-mitzvah.
My religion was /is/ called Foofyism (which was no meaning behind it). I thought I did a lot better working by myself then when I worked in a group, on all the other big humanities projects (Medieval, and Renaissance) . I don’t know why, but I think it was easier because there was no one else to mess up (which I’m not saying would happen if I worked in a group, or when I worked in a group). In class, before we started the project we (being the 6th graders) made a list of 3 questions that you would ask some one who believed in a religion you’ve never heard of. So I based my religion on those questions, and I think I answered. Here are the questions if you wanted to see them:
1. How does the religion explain the world and human existence?
2. How does the person practice their faith on a daily and holiday basis?
3. What is the history of the religion and the source of it’s doctrine?
One of the main topics Rob talked to us about in the Review, was the finally presentation. For my presentation I sat in front of everyone a just answer questions. The feedback I got from that was interesting. Some people said it was the best was to present my project, and I did a great job. But some people said it came of unprepared. So I’m not really sure how I did. But I think I did good
Overall I think my project was a success. And it changed my perspective of religion.
